Boyolali (July 19, 2021) - Whether public or private, schools ideally share a common goal: to nurture students with good morals, intelligence, and noble character. Regardless of the method, all have equally noble intentions. However, sometimes the method or approach adopted by schools may lead to students becoming bored. At Pradita Dirgantara High School, this is prevented as early as possible through the use of the Moving Class method.

Moving Class

Moving Class is a dynamic learning process where students change classrooms according to their subjects. In this system, teachers no longer go to the students. Instead, students are encouraged to actively find the classroom where the teacher is ready. With Moving Class, students are required to have self- awareness, be creative, take initiative, and be actively involved in receiving lessons from the teacher.

So why does Pradita Dirgantara High School implement this Moving Class method? The answer is very simple. Both teachers and students will have an equal share of responsibility. For the teacher, they are required to be more active and creative in developing their teaching methods. For example, the teachers at Pradita Dirgantara High School are very accustomed to using information technology tools in their teaching methods. This includes virtual teaching, creating infographics, and presenting data using animation or video.

Meanwhile, for students, they are trained to be independent and fully responsible for the decisions they make. Students will have the courage to ask questions, provide answers, express opinions, and be open (critical) in every subject they take. Most importantly, students are more motivated to learn.

Benefits of Moving Class:

  • Moving class prevents both students and teachers from being confined to one classroom, making the learning process more engaging.
  • Both teachers and students are "forced" to interact with each other, leading to synergistic collaboration.
  • Moving class demands that students be more disciplined in the decisions they make.
  • Teachers will be better prepared in terms of lesson planning. This means that the material delivered to students will be more comprehensive and engaging.
  • Enhances the effectiveness and efficiency of learning time.
  • Teachers can arrange the room/laboratory according to the needs of each meeting without being disrupted by other subjects.

Advantages of Moving Class:

  • Moving Class is relatively cost- effective for the school, as each classroom does not need to purchase the same equipment. For example, the history room only requires teaching aids like a temple model. A microscope is sufficient in the biology room, a reaction tube is enough in the chemistry room, or a large protractor is adequate in the mathematics room.

Disadvantages of Moving Class:

  • The transition between classes may somewhat reduce learning time.
  • If there are changes to the schedule of subjects, it will affect the learning activities.
  • Moving Class is very similar to university-level teaching methods, which allows students to skip subjects they do not like. However, this does not happen at Pradita Dirgantara High School, as all students reside in the school dormitory and are closely monitored by dormitory supervisors.

The Moving Class learning method indeed requires a significant investment. However, this is paid for with significant results in the behavior and learning enthusiasm of students. Concrete proof of this is seen in the 2021 SBMPTN (Joint Selection for State Universities) results, where almost one hundred percent of the first batch of graduates in May 2021 were accepted into 26 universities across Indonesia. This proves that Pradita Dirgantara High School is currently the best high school in Indonesia. Becoming the best private school is the target of Pradita Dirgantara High School.

Some students have also achieved remarkable records. For example, Safira Azzahra Iswandi managed to achieve a perfect score in the subjects of Physics and Chemistry, with a score of 1,000. In addition to the perfect scores in Physics and Chemistry, Safira also achieved very satisfactory scores in Mathematics (819.53) and Biology (868.73).

In addition to Safira, there is also M. Fawwaz Ghazy Hafish, a full scholarship recipient from the University of Chicago. Fawwaz was accepted into the political science department at this campus. The University of Chicago is one of the top 10 universities in the world.
