Boyolali The need for literacy awareness is undeniably crucial. This is precisely what students from Pradita Dirgantara High School (SMA PD) have taken up, initiating a book donation campaign to Ngemplak 1 st Elementary School and Ngemplak Islamic Junior High School in Boyolali on Sunday, January 15, 2023.
Operating under the banner of "Student Library Assistant" (Sersan), 15 students from the 10th and 11th grades of Pradita Dirgantara High School engaged in literacy education through programs involving story-telling and dream boards at both schools.
Nayla Faizha Effendi, one of the students and a prime mover in Sersan, pointed out that instilling a love for reading among younger students at the elementary and junior high levels is no small feat. According to Nayla, the pervasive influence of information technology has substantially impacted students at this level.
"Story-telling and dream boards represent modest yet auspicious beginnings for these youngsters. I firmly believe that if this initiative is gradually cultivated, these budding readers will grow to cherish the act of reading," affirmed Nayla.
Meanwhile, Panji Haryo, an educator at Pradita Dirgantara High School who serves as the overseer of Sersan, expressed that this movement will persist in its momentum, extending beyond the vicinity of Pradita Dirgantara High School.
"Both I and the dedicated Sersan students are resolute in propelling this literacy campaign, reaching far beyond Ngemplak. Our aspiration is to touch all corners of Central Java. Moreover, I would be immensely pleased if there were opportunities for collaboration with fellow literacy advocates," he declared.
