SMA PRADITA DIRGANTARA (Boyolali) – In an effort to improve teacher competence, SMA Pradita Dirgantara held an In House Training “Learning Model” with Dr. Hendi Pratama, M.A. which is the Plt. Vice Rector for Planning and Cooperation, State University of Semarang. The activity took place on Saturday (17/10/2020) at SMA Pradita Dirgantara while still strictly implementing the Covid-19 protocol.
Deputy Principal for Academic Affairs, M. Ridwan Aziz, M.Pd. gave a speech while opening the In House Training event which was attended by all SMA Pradita Dirgantara teachers. In his remarks, M. Ridwan Aziz said that teachers need to improve their teaching abilities, especially in using various learning models that accommodate students in order to actively participate in the learning process. “With the holding of In House Training, it is hoped that it can equip teachers in mastering various learning models which can later be applied in the learning process”, added Aziz.
Dr. Hendi Pratama, M.A. conveyed that the application of a learning model tailored to the needs of students in achieving basic competencies is very important. “As a teacher, we need to involve the active role and participation of students so that student-centered learning can be applied properly,” said Hendi. According to him, there are several things that need to be considered in the application of student-centered learning, namely: 1) Students are responsible for learning, 2) Teachers facilitate, 3) Students find out material that is not discussed in class, 4) Increase open questions, 5) Increase studies cases, and 6) the combination of individual learning and collective learning. “Teachers need to prepare several things before starting to design learning, including learning that must focus on student activity and involvement, reduce the proportion of teacher lectures (lectures are still needed), provoke student curiosity, students must be responsible during the learning process because of the knowledge or skills that involve students mastered faster and will last longer, “added Hendi.
In the In House Training, the teachers are divided into several groups according to the subject group being taught. Then the teachers were asked to discuss and practice the application of the learning model that was delivered by the speaker. On that occasion, the teachers applied the learning model Small Group Discussion, Simulation, Discovery Learning, Self-Directed Learning, Cooperative Learning, Collaborative Learning, Contextual Instruction, Project Based Learning and Problem Based Learning. According to Nanang Adi Prayitno, S.Pd. (Physics teacher), this In House Training is very useful for him because he can better understand the concept of learning models and how to design and implement these learning models. “I along with other physics teachers tried to apply Contextual Instruction when given the opportunity to practice the learning model in teaching physics and I think this learning model can help us in implementing learning in the classroom”, Ujan Nanang.
