PRADITA DIRGANTARA SMA (Boyolali) – Language Ambassador of Pradita Drgantara High School was elected on Wednesday (28/10/2020). Based on the selection results, the SMA Pradita Dirgantara Language Ambassador Selection places students in the name of Madha Fitrah Pratama class XII C with a grade of 2001 and a student on behalf of Rachel Carolice Takaend with class XII C with a grade of 1973 as the winner.
Election of Language Ambassador is a routine activity carried out by SMA Pradita Dirgantara every year. As is well known, the Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud) has designated October as Language and Literature Month since 1980 as a form of commemoration of Youth Pledge Day on October 28. In the Youth Pledge it is proclaimed that the sons and daughters of Indonesia swear to uphold the language of unity, namely Indonesian. The unified language of Indonesian as a bridge or link for the diversity of languages in Indonesia. In the latest data belonging to the Language Development and Development Agency of the Ministry of Education and Culture, there are currently more than 600 identified regional languages in Indonesia, for this we need one agreed language to be used as a medium of communication between very diverse citizens.
With the stipulation of October as Language Month and as an appreciation of students’ achievements in the field of language, SMA Pradita Dirgantara held a Language Ambassador Selection for SMA Pradita Dirgantara. The election was held during October with a selection process through consideration of language teachers (Indonesian, Javanese, English, German, French). Aspects that are assessed as the basis for selecting candidates are subject scores, competition achievement, activeness in organizations, and general abilities in the field of language, especially speaking and writing.
“The selection of language teachers then produces candidates (3 boys and 3 girls each from each generation), who are then selected through voting by all SMA Pradita Dirgantara academics. The candidate with the most votes is the one chosen as Language Ambassador. ” said Widya Yuni Lestari, S.Pd., an Indonesian language teacher at SMA Pradita Dirgantara when explaining the selection process for SMA Pradita Dirgantara High School Language Ambassadors. The duty of language ambassadors is not only as a representation of SMA Pradita Dirgantara students who excel in the language field, but also as an activator of the habit of using good and correct Indonesian, preservation of regional languages, and mastery of foreign languages, especially English as an international language. Duta Bahasa is also expected to invite Pradita Dirgantara High School students to love literacy.
“Alhamdulillah, praise the Almighty God, I got a new opportunity and responsibility, namely as a Language Ambassador for SMA Pradita Dirgantara. Of course this responsibility is not easy, but I try to carry out my job, namely to echo the use of language that is good, correct, polite and polite. For all my friends, language is a tool, a tool to explore one’s abilities, not just a means of communication. No matter how smart or high our knowledge is, without language it will all be useless. Therefore, let’s develop our language skills in this language month. ” Madha said.
Meanwhile Rachel said that her friends often asked her how to be good at language, and she replied that she could not call herself good yet, but she did like learning languages. Love is the main key, which makes it more enjoyable to learn languages.
“I understand that everyone has their own interests, which cannot be generalized. However, nothing said we couldn’t learn languages. If you don’t really work for it, you don’t really want it. That sentence is what I always remember. Find our goal, undoubtedly the desire to learn will emerge by itself. Whatever your reasons are, they really matter. So, if we really want to be more ‘good at’ language, let’s start fighting and don’t let anything get in our way, even if it’s ourselves!
